Our first official trailer!

Yes we've been quiet for a long time, but we come to you now after months of hard work with our very first promotional trailer! We're all pretty happy with it at this stage, even though we've barely scratched the surface. It's been a long difficult journey, and one we've made with no programmers. While we've made a few changes since, this is our core playble level, topped off with lovingly composed music by Phrazer - http://soundcloud.com/phrazer.

In addition to this our graduation show starts tomorrow, so we're all pretty excited about that. It will be open for two weeks, so feel free to drop by if you're in the area and support Skyway!

Concept Artwork

Time for some concept artwork! It's not new, but many of you probably haven't seen it before.

This is Hooch, you may be wondering why he's first? It's because he's Hooch. Hooch owns the Bike Shop in Oscar's village. A rather suspect character, Oscar is his only friend, although that may be because he spends most of his time brewing a noxious green liquid he refers to by his name. In the game, Hooch will reward Oscar with Bike parts as payment for collecting his lost Hooch.

This is Oscar; Protagnist, Rocketcycleer and do-gooder. Oscar lives with his parents, although his father seems to be away on business most of the time, and his mother is a foul tempered creature with a back complaint. When the accident happens, Oscar feels it is up to him to restore the village to rights, and if he can pick up his dear old mum's pain medication at the same time? Well, why not.

This is Mr. and Mrs. Docherty, they own the Pier on the Skylake. Normally they're quite the sweet old couple, but then again, this accident seems to have put everyone on edge. Something like Grandparents to Oscar, they enlist his help to restore the Skylake to rights, and start him off on his journey.

Rocketbikes, Oscar loves them, Hooch sells them, it's easy to see why to two are friends. unfortunately for Hooch, Oscar seems to be the only person in Skyway who does like them. Everyone else prefers to get around on more traditional methods of transport.

The Official Skyway Blog

Here it is, freshly created, the official Skyway blog.

Skyway is a third person platformer being developed by SkyBox Games. It has been in development for a few months already, and a lot of the pre-production is already done, so expect to be seeing rough models and builds in the future.
SkyBox Games is a small collection of Video Games Design students from the Newport Collge of Art, Media and Design, Wales. We started work on Skyway as part of our Final Major project, but all of the team have expressed willingness to take the game past the vertical slice required for our course, and are prepared to develop it into a full game.

As a game, Skyway's unique selling point comes in the form of water cubes; gravity defying cubes of water that the player can jump in and out of, swim through, and if he's not careful, sink out of and fall to his death. The majority of the levels in the full game will be split between traditional platforming and water cube platforms, tunnels and mazes.

Keep an eye on future posts for concept art, models and builds!
